The closest airport to Viña del Mar is the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport located in Santiago.

Getting to Viña del Mar

To get to Viña del Mar from the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez (SCL) International Airport located in Santiago, you can take either a bus or taxi.

SCL to Viña del Mar by bus

From the Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez (SCL) International Airport, you need to go to the Pajaritos metro (subway) station. To do this you have the following two options:

– Getting to the Pajaritos station by bus. These buses are located outside the first floor of the airport. We recommend the bus line Turbus, which goes to Pajaritos from Monday to Sunday between 06:00 and 22:45 hrs., and charges around CLP $3,000 (approximately US$3.00) each way.

– Getting to Pajaritos by taxi. In this case we recommend the TransVip taxi line, and you can book your trip in advance at www.transvip.cl. You can opt for a shared option with other passengers. The price to the Pajaritos station is approx. CLP $10,000–35,000 (approx. US$10–35).

Once at the Pajaritos subway station, you should go to the bus terminal (located inside the station) and look for the interprovincial bus lines that go to Viña del Mar, if that is where you are staying. We recommend the bus lines Turbus or Pullman Bus. The price of the ticket depends on the day and time, but starts at CLP $5,000 one-way (approx. US$4).

SCL to Viña del Mar by taxi

If you opt for taxi, we recommend that you coordinate in advance on the website www.transvip.cl. Their booth at the airport can be found where you exit the luggage area or in the main lobby. The price from the airport to Viña del Mar is CLP $100,000–130,000, which is approx. USD$100-130. The trip takes about 90 minutes. Beware: only take official taxi, and avoid drivers who may approach you as you exit the airport.

Getting to Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, campus Viña del Mar

The Viña del Mar campus is located in a hill atop the neighborhood of Los Altos del Sporting Club. It is characterized by its impressive ocean view, and it consists of six buildings, where all the activities of our students and professors take place.

To reach the Viña del Mar Campus you can get there by using the free shuttle, by Uber, or by walking. More details follow.

Free university shuttles

The university has free shuttle buses from two points in the city, at specific times throughout the day that can be checked herehttps://www.uai.cl/campus-uai/campus-vina-del-mar/buses-de-acercamiento-vina-del-mar/

Uber

Another safe and fairly cheap option is to take an Uber to the campus.

Walking

Although it is fairly easy to walk uphill to the campus (approx. 30 mins. walk), we discourage this option as it may be unsafe: the road on the hill is lonely and some cases of burglary have been reported.
